Lake Country hosts artistic celebrations.

Lake Country is brimming with talented individuals and two local towns—Park Rapids and Pequot Lakes—will soon be celebrating the arts in their own ways.

Park Rapids will host a two-night writing workshop March 18 and 25 at the Park Rapids Public Library. Classes begin at 6 p.m. both evenings and will feature LouAnn Shepard Muhm, local published poet and teacher, as she guides writers "on a journey of poetic narrative." The workshop is free but space is limited. Interested writers should sign up at the library front desk or call (218) 732-4966 for more information.

The 28th annual Pequot Lakes Festival of the Arts, a community-wide celebration of local artistic talent, will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 8. Space should be reserved by mid-March. Visual artists who would like to have a table at the event should call Dave Guenther, (218) 568-9252. Performing artists should contact Chris Nick, (218) 562-6170; performances will be scheduled for the stage in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium.

Prepare to learn, enjoy, and expand your horizons. Lake Country's creativity may inspire you to try your own hand at an artistic endeavor!
