Lake Country is Blooming

Come join the fun!
Brick path through a lovely garden.

The cities of Brainerd and Crosslake are celebrating Lake Country blossoms and gardens, and you can be part of it.

Brainerd's campaign, "Brainerd in Bloom," involves residential and non-residential sites throughout the city limits. Entries in the six categories—Shade Gardens, Container Gardens, Flower Gardens, Water Gardens, Native Gardens, and Rain Gardens—will be judged on first impression, design, planting, and maintenance.

Application deadline is July 15, 2010. Judging will be conducted July 26-30. For more information, view the brochure here. Partners in this endeavor include Brainerd Main Street Program, Brainerd Garden Club, Crow Wing County Master Gardners, Northland Arboretum, Crow Wing County Extension, and Lakes Printing.

Crosslake is also holding a garden contest and seminars. The contest will include Floral Gardens, Container Gardens, Shade Gardens, Water Gardens, and Vegetable Gardens. The events are sponsored by the Brainerd Lakes Chamber, Crow Wing County Master Gardeners, and Haven Books. To find out more, view the poster here.

So have fun making your corner of Lake Country attractive—and, if you know of some beautiful Lake Country sites, please share with our readers—just register or sign in to add a comment.
