Click ’n Cure?

A recent study from Pew and American Life Project found that those who use the Internet for health information almost doubled in the last couple of years. Frequenters increased from 31 percent to 60 percent. The survey group contacted 2,253 people by landline and 502 by cellphone. (Published on GearLive.com, dated June 18, 2009.)
In the current Lake Country Journal Magazine, writer Brenda Meyer, R.N., details the pros and cons of seeking online medical advice in her article, “Online Healthcare” (July/August 2009, p. 60). While it’s true that you shouldn’t depend exclusively on the Web for your healthcare, there are many websites that are full of useful information.
My favorite is the one produced by Minnesota’s own Mayo Clinic. MayoClinic.com brings the advice of internationally renowned medical professionals to those of us in Lake Country and beyond. They are as close as your keyboard.
Everything from healthy living and first aid to information on specific diseases and health conditions can be found with the click of your mouse. It’s an amazing resource. Use it in good health!
