Living naturally

Learn how, using "goods from the woods."
Artist Grant Goltz surrounded by bountiful north woods.

"Goods from the Woods" is an annual festival highlighting the varied bounty of our north woods. As detailed by writer Sheila Helmberger in the current Lake Country Journal Magazine, (Sept/Oct 2009, p. 34), this is the seventh year for creative artisans to gather and exhibit the items they've crafted from natural materials found in the environment.

This year's event will be Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ruttger's Sugar Lake Lodge in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. This "Up North" Marketplace and Green Living Celebration will feature the work of more than 70 of northern Minnesota's premier artisans.

There is no admission charge and a free shuttle bus will run hourly from downtown Grand Rapids to the resort, with stops at Central School, L&M Supply, Timber Lodge, and Sawmill Inn, all in Grand Rapids.

For more information, visit the event website or Ruttger's Sugar Lake Lodge website.
